Overview

Irrawaddy dolphins are found in the nine dolphin areas along the Mekong River and this join-in tour offers you the rare opportunity to meet come up-close with these highly intelligent marine mammals.  You will also get to catch a glimpse of the rural life in Kratie and remnants of what used to be a French colonial town.

What to Expect

You’ll have the option to select either a morning or afternoon departure for this 4 hour join-in tour.  After picking you up from your hotel, we will gather at the operator’s office for a activity briefing.  We’ll then head by tut-tut to a boat pier approximately 15 kilometers north of Kratie town.  Board a local long-tailed boat skippered by a experienced resident and river cruise for about 45 minutes and hopefully get to come up-close with the Irrawaddy dolphins, an endangered species in their natural habitat. Learn more about the operator’s conservation works in Kampi.  Back on the mainland, we’ll then head to a pagoda on Sambok Hill and enjoy the magnificent view from atop.  We’ll also have a short tour at Thma Krae village which is famous for its sticky rice (Krolan). After this, the tuk-tuk driver will drive you back to your hotel.
